Trace
Anything left behind that persists enough to be encountered again: a memory fragment, scar, message, witness account, receipt, habit, record, or pattern.
Framing
The story-shape imposed on the weighted material: betrayal, lesson, threat, accident, test, chapter, proof, opportunity, and so on.
Interpretation
The meaning assigned to the render: what happened because, what it means, what it says about me or us, and where the story goes next.
Checkpoint status
The authority a trace has acquired. Status may come from repetition, institutional position, social consensus, vividness, or official form and may exceed the trace's support.
Unrecorded gap
A protected space in which experience is not fixed into a durable, searchable, or externally governed trace. The term names a chosen boundary; missing records that protect institutional failure or abuse are not redeemed by the same name.
The promise
I call this framework the Structured Theory of Archived Reconstruction, or STAR.
