What does the discipline of correction change?
Investigate this without forcing a slogan answer. The source passage keeps the evidence, uncertainty, and limits visible.
What this page is for
This question is meant to be investigated, not answered with a slogan. The book passage below keeps the uncertainty visible.
What this does not prove
A useful question can widen the field. It does not guarantee a single correct answer.
Before a factual claim is allowed to carry serious consequence, five questions should become habitual.
What exactly is being claimed?
What is the strongest supporting trace, and what is its provenance?
What independent evidence converges, and what only repeats the same source?
Who can challenge the claim, and where can correction go?
Is the checkpoint strong enough for the consequence being imposed?
These questions are not a guarantee against error. Nothing honest can offer that. They are a discipline for making error less self-sealing.
