The sentence is spoken in a room with six people, one screen, two remote participants, and a clock everyone has begun to resent.
The project is moving customer records from one system to another. Most functions work. A small number of accounts still produce mismatched balances under a particular sequence. The issue may be rare. It may also be the kind of rare that becomes expensive after launch.
Morgan has spent three nights tracing it. Sonia, the project director, has spent six months promising the transition will happen this quarter. Caleb, the finance lead, has been told that extending the old vendor contract will cost another forty thousand dollars. Rina, the customer support manager, is imagining the calls if balances appear wrong. Owen, the executive sponsor, joins ten minutes late and is scheduled to leave in twenty.
Mika, the analyst taking notes, has been instructed to capture decisions, not discussion. Morgan sends one sentence. It arrives in several worlds.
To Morgan, the sentence is a technical boundary. The tests are incomplete. Recommendation has professional meaning. Signing off would convert uncertainty into approval.
To Sonia, it is a threat to the project's legitimacy. She hears not only Friday but six months, promises made upward, and the possibility that Morgan is introducing a late standard that should have appeared earlier.
