What does what the render writes back change?

What this does not prove
A useful question can widen the field. It does not guarantee a single correct answer.
The Cotton case also reveals something more than error and correction. It reveals feedback. A render does not remain inside the person who experiences it. It produces speech, action, records, bodily learning, social response, and institutional decisions. Those outputs become new traces. Later, they return as part of the archive from which another render is built.
An event produces active signals. Archived traces become available. The Query Stack orients attention, selects some material, assigns weight, and frames what the material appears to mean. A render emerges: recognition, alarm, certainty, bodily readiness. The render is interpreted. Action follows. The action leaves traces. Those traces re-enter the archive. Then the next cycle begins from a changed starting point.
Thompson's identification helped produce Cotton's arrest. The arrest produced a search, a live lineup, testimony, court records, convictions, and a prison file. Each output became new archived material. Later participants did not encounter the untouched question "Who committed this crime?" They encountered a suspect already selected, a defendant already charged, a man already present in earlier procedures, and eventually a prisoner whose record announced guilt before he entered the room.
The original render had begun to manufacture its own supporting environment.
That does not mean every later participant acted dishonestly; feedback does not require conspiracy. A system can entrench error through ordinary procedure, sincere repetition, and records that inherit the assumptions of the step before them.
This is why repeated exposure is not automatically independent confirmation. The second lineup was not a new witness. The later confidence was not untouched evidence from the original event. A record can preserve a conclusion and then return as if it were fresh support for itself.
The same mechanism appears in less catastrophic form every day. A manager interprets reserve as resistance and writes difficult in a performance note. The next manager reads the note before meeting the employee. Neutral caution now looks like confirmation. Another note is added. Soon the archive contains a pattern that was partly produced by the pattern's own expectation.
