The word render becomes dangerous when it is allowed to travel alone. If lived experience is assembled from active signals, retrieved traces, bodily state, social context, and prior expectation, then a reasonable objection arrives quickly: what prevents any story from claiming equal standing? If the same silence can be read as care, contempt, fear, or distraction, why not call denial another interpretation? Why not call conspiracy a frame? Why not say that everyone has a truth and leave reality to fend for itself?
Because construction is not permission.
The mind does not receive the world in a pure, unprocessed stream. It still meets a world it did not invent. Some things happened. Some did not. Money moved or it did not. A message was sent or it was not. A person was in the room or elsewhere. Cotton committed the crimes or he did not. STAR calls a sufficiently stabilized point of constraint a checkpoint.
A checkpoint is a trace, event, state, measurement, witness, or procedure that has earned enough verification weight to limit what can honestly be claimed next. It is not merely something written down. A record says that something was stored. A checkpoint says that the stored thing, or the event behind it, has enough support that an account must answer to it. Interpretation remains open around a checkpoint. It does not remain open through it.
You may argue about why the payment was made. You may not honestly argue that no payment occurred once the transfer is established. You may reinterpret a diagnosis, seek another opinion, or reject the identity someone tries to build around it. You may not make the laboratory value disappear by finding the story inconvenient. You may forgive a betrayal. You may not convert forgiveness into proof that the act never happened.
