The laughter begins while Aiden is still speaking. He is standing at the front of a conference room, presenting a proposal he has rewritten three times. The slide behind him contains the number everyone is supposed to care about. He has just explained why the current plan will miss it. Two people near the back laugh.
Aiden feels the body move before thought becomes grammatical. His throat narrows. The room seems farther away. The slide looks suddenly overdesigned. He hears his own next sentence as if someone less competent is saying it.
An action impulse arrives: finish quickly.
Then the interpretation catches up. They think this is ridiculous. Nothing in the first second waited for that sentence. The lived world changed before Aiden named the change. STAR calls that lived output the render.
A render is the immediate experienced world generated from active signals and archived traces through the Query Stack. It includes perception, emotion, bodily readiness, action tendency, and the felt position of the self inside the moment.
Interpretation is the more explicit meaning assigned to that output: what happened, why it happened, what it says about me or them, and where the story goes next.
The distinction matters because people often defend an interpretation by pointing to the reality of the render. I felt humiliated, therefore they humiliated me. I felt unsafe, therefore the person intended danger. I felt relief, therefore the decision was right.
